Westlake Tires Industry Ratings

Like all tires, Westlake tires must abide by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This system rates tires depending on their traction, treadwear, and temperature resistance, except for winter tires.

Below is what each grade means about your tire:

Treadwear: Treadwear is a grade that shows how long a tire can last. The tradewear grade has a range of between 100-1000, where, for instance, a tire with a treadwear number of 600 will last twice as long as a treadwear number of 300.

Traction: Traction is a grade that shows how well a tire will perform in wet road conditions. The traction rating can be AA, A, B or C, where AA has the highest level of traction on wet condition and C the lowest.

Temperature resistance: Temperature resistance shows how a tire performs during high speed. The temperature ratings are A, B and C. Tires with A rating will be able to peform at speeds above 115 mph, tires with B rating will be able to perform at speeds between 100-115 mph, and tires with C rating will be able to perform at speeds between 85-100 mph.

In the table below, we have gathered the four most popular Westlake tires and their UTQG scores found at NHTSA.gov.

Westlake tires offers a variety of tires for most type of vehicles. In this review we focus on passenger cars, SUVs and light trucks. Here are Westlake’s most popular tire models for these three categories:

Westlake SP06

The Westlake SP06 is Westlake’s most popular passenger car tire. It’s an all-season tire ideal for sport coupes and sedans who want to use their tires all year round, even in light snow.

The most outstanding feature of this tire is that it has great traction on both dry and wet surfaces.

  • Good traction on both dry and wet surfaces.
  • Good stability and grip in corners.
  • Good comfort when driving.

  • Becomes noisy once worn.
  • Not the best winter handling and traction.
  • Fairly short treadlife.

Westlake SL309

The Westlake SL309 is Westlake’s most popular SUV, van and Light truck tire. It’s an all-season tire with a sturdier build designed for heavy-duty use.

Just as the SP06 mentionen above, this tire also comes with very reliable dry and wet traction. From my research it seems that this is where Westlake tires shines the most overall.

  • Good traction on both dry and wet surfaces.
  • Better than average treadlife.
  • Good price for drivers on a budget.

  • Not the best traction on snow and ice.
  • Becomes noisy once worn.

Westlake Tires Customer Reviews

Though most of the information in blogs, such as the one on this review, comes from the manufacturers, people who normally use the products daily could give reviews that would help you make an informed decision.

However, we have these reviews here to help you make the right choice for purchase. Therefore, we have provided both positive and negative responses from different users.

Positive Experiences With Westlake Tires

“I bought these tires because I was low on funds. Ok, the grip is pretty good, not saying high performance, but good enough and good for the price. If you are looking for high performance, Westlake tires are the choice.”

“Great price! Considering the size, load index, and speed rating, these tires were pretty cheap. I was looking for some cheap tires to put on a 2015 Chevy Cruze LTZ I will be trading soon. They ride pretty nice! I was very impressed.”

Negative Experiences with Westlake tires

“I bought Westlake tires sometime back. Since most of the good alignment shops were closed, I had to venture a little further out for a quality alignment shop. It previously rained a night before and continued raining the morning of my tire blowout. At the same time, driving on the freeway, the passenger rear tire wall was torn apart from the rest of the tire. What happened to me maybe an anomaly, but I wanted to share my experience for customers on the fence between saving a couple of bucks or having peace of mind when it comes to purchasing a new tire.”

“I have had these tires for less than five hundred miles and one of them has already developed a golf ball sized knot on the side wall and is very unsafe to drive.”

Do Westlake Offer Warranties?

Yes. As stated earlier, Westlake Tire Company aims and satisfies their customers and wins their trust. Therefore, one of the ways to make customers happy and 100% satisfied is the company offers a pro, Inc. 2-year warranty. This makes customers have confidence when buying Westlake tires.

Here is how the pro-2-year warranty plan works

Every product has a warranty of 2 years from the purchase date. This includes the original factory warranty. The manufacturer’s warranty is in effect for its specified time. Then, Westlake Pro continues that warranty under the specified manufacturers’ conditions for the remaining part of the two-year duration.

The warranty covers only the manufacturing defects on the products used under normal working conditions. The Westlake Pro extended warranty takes effect when the manufacturer’s warranty period ends. If the manufacturer’s warranty goes beyond 2 years, Westlake Pro will have no option beyond that period.

What The Warranty Does Not Cover

The following but not limited to this list is not covered under Westlake Pro warranty:

  • Damages from misuse, accident, neglect, or abuse.
  • Damage happening during the shipping of the product (claims should be addressed to the carrier)
  • Damage occurring during repair by unapproved facility or person by Westlake Pro, Inc.
  • Damage from negligence in following the instructions provided in the user’s manual.
  • Damage to any part that has been changed or the serial number has been removed, modified, or defaced.
  • Anything not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
  • Their manufacturer’s warranty will cover all electronic units.

Warranty Service Process

To get service for your product, contact Westlake Pro at 323-845-1145. Before reaching out to the company, ensure that the product is registered with the manufacturer. Otherwise, it won’t be eligible for the Westlake Pro warranty. Additionally, proof of purchase is a must.

Westlake Pro extended warranty is not transferable as the Westlake Pro offers a written authorization and instruction for getting the warranty service. The company also includes the name and location on their warranty details.

The customer will cater for the packing and shipping fee. Westlake Pro does not compensate for the loss of time, wages, or any other issues that may crop up due to product failure.

A good car tire makes a ride enjoyable, whether on or off-road. Therefore, it is essential to purchase top-notch tires. Westlake Tires have been known in the tire industry for years due to their well-performing products. Their tire sizes range from 13 inches up to 20 inches.

Consider buying Westlake tires for your car, and you will not regret it in the long run. They provide a comfortable and safe drive in most weather conditions, perhaps they lack a bit when it comes to mud and snow driving conditions.

Additionally, these tires do not cost much if budget is your primary factor.
